FRIDAY, MAY 1 PARTLY BROTHERS
Luti Erbežnik (from the former Yugoslavia) and Brian Wood (a Michigan native) unify elements from two distant worlds into an eclectic musical one. With rich vocal harmonies, beautiful catchy tunes and acoustic blend of finger picking and strumming, Partly Brothers have created songs of hope, peace, love and dreams — fulfilled or not — with thought-provoking lyrics. Their music has been referred to as  "upbeat and sophisticated" as well as "rich and hypnotic" and their performances exude passion, joy and humor: you won’t want to miss their show!

SATURDAY MAY, 2 STEVE KOVICH
Performing songs of questionable fact, yet full of truth, singer/songwriter Steve Kovich returns once again to the Crazy Wisdom Tearoom for another evening of musical entertainment. Some old songs and some new ones. All  original whether by him or not.  Some songs you'll even recognise. Come on out and enjoy the sounds and the stories.

 FRIDAY, MAY 8 PATRICK HEREK
Patrick Herek is a 31 year-old rock pianist/vocalist hailing from southeastern Michigan and now living in Chicago, IL. Combining his upbringing on classically-trained piano with his penchant for musicians like David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, and Ben Folds, he spins songs that “indulge a fascination for the odd, the overlooked, and the absurd, with a humorist's eye and the witty voice of a poet who writes limericks.” His style of music mixes rock and folk with occasional flourishes of early 19th century classical. His music strives to capture the beauty in subjects whether weighty (lost love) or mundane (EKG interpretation). An All Music Guide review of “Glory Avenue” concluded, “as debut albums go, this one is quite fine; it's full of small mysteries and cleverness that bears repeated listening.”

SATURDAY, MAY 9 ROCK PAPER SCISSORS
This local duo covers a wide variety of songs which suitably fall under the categories Rock, Paper (songs of the pen), and Scissors (songs that cut), by such artists as Lucinda Williams, Son Volt, the Rolling Stones, and Robyn Hitchcock, to name a few! The versatile sounds of Tom Lyon's cello create the feeling of a fuller band, complemented by the expressive vocals and guitar of Vicki Dischler (of Black Train).

FRIDAY, MAY 15 UNCLE JEMIMA
"Occasionally there comes an artist who writes with such sincerity that the songs take a hold of you and control your decisions; whether it be your hand clicking a mouse, changing radio stations, or stopping through a late-night tea house.  Uncle Jemima is that artist, brandishing unique and original songs that resonate with a haunting profundity.  It is indie music in its greatest form, the overwhelming potential of a solo acoustic artist to capture a crowd with music ranging from fragile gems to overwhelming, soaring sonic masterpieces.  His name is Uncle Jemima, and he'll be touring through Ann Arbor to spread the word and a brand new debut album, So Heavy for Something So Empty.  Do not miss him!"

 SATURDAY, MAY 16 TIM MONGER
A founding member of the Great Lakes Myth Society, Timothy Monger plays pop songs that recall the heyday of the great American singer/songerwriters.  His acclaimed solo album "Summer Cherry Ghosts" was released in 2004

FRIDAY, MAY 22 THE BEARED LADIES
With all the promising acts in the blossoming Michigan music scene its easy to see why The Bearded Ladies are so hungry to play. The Ladies (four rustic gents with a penchant for pickin’) take the energy and passion of a punk band and blend it with the elegance of a string quartet, serving up a foot-stomping good time while maintaining an invite to your grandma’s dinner table. The group has been brewing in Ann Arbor for the past year, playing host to a weekly bluegrass night entertaining nationwide acts. With aspirations for a studio album of originals in spring ‘09, watch for the Bearded Ladies on the Michigan and Midwest festival circuit this summer.

SATURDAY, MAY 23 BONE ORCHARD REVIVAL
WITH SILVERMINE PICTURES AND MIKE GALBRAITH

Sunday morning lovesick hymnals to break your back and harmonies to mend it....with siren songs sweet and sultry as a Saturday night.   Bone Orchard Revival’s Adam M. Arscott and Jeni Lee Richey deliver country and blues influenced music steeped in love, loss, desire and delicious strangers.  Evil Americana with a sexy side, from barrooms to churches and everywhere in between. This will be their final performance in Michigan for awhile as wagons head west.

Silvermine Pictures was born of a Galapagos tortoise and an architect’s nephew.  Guitars, ukulele, banjo and the occasional birdsong provide the music to lyrics both honest and ornate. The Michigan-native duo got its start as a one-off performance for the purpose of raising bail money for a neighbor (which they were unable to raise).
Detroit songwriter Mike Galbraith’s new record ‘Rags’ is chock full of late night reminiscences, femme fatales and cigarettes over coffee along forgotten highways.  An inspired performer with strains of Leonard Cohen, Kerouac and cold, cold winters.  www.myspace.com/mikegalbraith

FRIDAY, MAY 29 JOHN CHURCHVILLE & MEETA BANERJEE
John Churchville and Meeta Banerjee and friends host an evening of Indian Classical Music.  Come hear the sounds of a musical tradition that dates back over 2000 years. John and Meeta have taken their music all over the midwest, including presentations at the Michigan Music Educators Conference, the North American Bengali Conference, and as featured performers with the Michigan Pops.  Now they are bringing their friends to the tearoom for a monthly Indian Classical music night that will include the sounds of the tabla, sitar, bansuri, violin, and vocals.

SATURDAY, MAY 30 SAM CORBIN
CD Release Show for "Michigan's Waltz"
Sam's songwriting is strong and honest drawing inspiration from personal experiences of love, loss, traveling, and Michigan, from its beautiful countryside to it's struggling economy.
